Is the DNA really different?

The dermatologist who gave me the second opinion told me my DNA has been changed in my body. He explained that is why I must have topical chemotherapy indefinately to kill the cancer cells on my face. I went to him to find out if I had any other options for treatment. My family thinks I am just trying to get sympathy. With makeup on my face looks normal. I am confused. When I put the topical chemotherapy on, the areas seem to be spreading all over my face. Anyone here know anything about this?

-I think the explanation may have been oversimplified. Tell your onc that you were confused by the explanation and need a better, more accuratte explanation. I find it is often best to get a pamphlet so I can read it at my liesure, at my own pace, as many times as I need. Maybe that's just because I'm a head case.

You should warn them when you make the appointment that you have a question or two that might take extra time, just in case there isn't a pamphlet. I'm not sure I understand this. Do you mean that the discolloration spreads as you put on the ointment or while you have the it on but does not spread at other times?

Is there an information sheet in the box the ointment came in? Those sheets sometimes explain a lot.

Your family should give you some sympathy. If they won't, we will.
