Does anyone know anything about Temodar and nausea? After surgery and 30 treatments of radiation with mild doses (140/MG per
night) doses of temodar during that time. Me oncologist is recommending a
year of a cyclical series of 5 days per month of larger does of Temodar for
a full year. He says there will be no nausea with this drug. I didn't
experience it the last time except at the end when finishing the
radiation/temodar series. The Compazine was basically useless for me. The
nurse for my neurologist is recommending I ask for Zofran.

-You might also ask about Kytril. Both drugs are potent HT3 receptor
blockers. They block the receptors that cause most chemotherapy
nasuea. Both are also very expensive in the USA, however the clinical
data show they are vastly superior to other anti-nausea agents. While not wishing to stir the pot, many insurance companies don't like
paying for these drugs, however they are available from pharacies
outside the USA at a fraction of the USA price. Something you might
wish to consider if your insurance declines to pay for these drugs or
seriously limits them. -My fiancee has had 4 cycles of Temodar. The biggest recommendation
that I can give is that you REALLY need to take the anti-nausea meds w/
it. with it - especially Zofran. We didn't know how important it was
the first time he took it and he was violently sick. Honestly, my fiancee has had kind of a rough time w/ Temodar in terms
of nausea - he has yet to make it through a cycle without vomiting, but
everything that I'm seeing indicates that his experience is really
unusual and it's well tolerated for most people. I'd also recommend the Temodar website (I think I joined that through
e-groups.com)- lot of information and the people there are really
helpful.
