Are Antioxidants Contraindicated in Cancer?
---------------------
reached my lymph nodes on diagnosis (there was a palpable lump in my
armpit). My treatment plan was 6 cycles of chemo followed by
mastectomy and 25 rads. During my treatments I took the following supplements:
7000mg ester C (vit C)
1 x B complex
200iu vit E
15mg zinc with copper
200ug selenium
astragalus
milk thistle. I took these every day without fail. I also juiced massive amounts of
fresh organic fruit and veg, EVERY DAY. On a daily basis I would
juice over 12 oranges, over 8 apples, approx. 4 lemons, a pint of
beetroot juice, a pint and a half of carrot juice, plus any veg I had
such as broccoli, etc. I also changed my diet drastically and
overnight. I was essentially vegan, eating no animal products at all
and eating plenty or organic fruit and veg, pulses, grains (brown
rice, etc.), seeds, nuts, wholewheat bread and pasta (I made my own
bread so that I knew what was in it). My aim was to take a load off by not eating meat etc., but, primarily
to FLOOD my body with antioxidants. I was consuming maximum amounts
of antioxidants by way of food, juices and supplements. It was not
physically possible for me to add to my intake of antioxidants. Antioxidants are 'supposed' to interfere with chemo? Then I am an
exception to the rule. My cancer was not detectable by ultrasound or
mammogram after the 4th chemo. Because of the aggressive nature of my
type of cancer I had to continue and have the remaining 2 cycles.
After my op the path report showed a 100% response to chemo. All
signs of cancer, including the 24 lymph nodes, had vanished completely
without even a trace! There was no evidence that it had been there. I would argue that my very high intake of antioxidants actually worked
synergistically with the chemo, increasing the efficiency. I also had
no side effects to treatments at all. I was doing very heavy,
physically demanding work throughout my chemo.
