 | Long term effects of methotrexate |

Has anyone done any studies on the long term effects of methotrexate. An
individual I know was given this drug instead of the correct drug and they
took 2.5mg daily for 3 months before mistake was discovered. This was
after chemotherapy. They have been off the drug now for approx. 3 months
but would like to know what if any side effects they may experience and
when.

I have been on MTX for 3 years now 15 mg. a week. I take the whole dose
once a week on Fridays. I have to go to the lab every 3 weeks to get a
blood test to make sure it is not affecting my liver. I have to take
folic acid every day to help with the mouth sores. Different people have
different side affects mine have been minor like the mouth sores and
thinning of my hair. You friend may react differently.
