One of a friend of mine's husbund has a cancer in his stomach.
I heard that a part from the chemiotherapy, there is a new method that
the medical field is now esperimenting on humans.
Is there anybody who can tell me the name of this new method and how to
get in touch with one of the doctors who is researching on it?
---------------------
-There is a non-mainstream form of chemotherapy that is used by
a Dr. Joseph Gold at the Syracuse Cancer Research Center, in Syracuse,
New York USA. Their telephone number is 315-472-6616. This Center
specializes in "non-cytotoxic chemotherapy", i.e. the use of chemo agents
such as hdrazine sulfate which are toxic to tumors but much less toxic
to normal cells than standard chemo agents. According to a representative
of the Center with whom I spoke, they were seeing about a 53% rate of
remission in their hydrazine sulfate patients, if I recall correctly. There are also various "complementary medicine" practitioners, such as
Dr. Robert C. Atkins, at the Atkins Center in New York. This Center's
telephone number is 1-800-2ATKINS, or you can find information about
them on the Web at www.atkinscenter.com. (The 800 number may not work
from outside the U.S. but perhaps the Web site will list an alternative
number.) You can also find a statement of Dr. Atkins's philosophy and
treatment methods in his book "Dr. Atkins' Health Revolution", which
you should be able to find by a title or author search on www.amazon.com
or Barnes & Noble's Web site, which is probably something like
www.barnesandnoble.com. -You can find a listing of new treatments which are in clinical trial at
cancernet -http://cancernet.nci.nih.gov/trials/h_clinic.htm or at
http://cancernet.nci.nih.gov/prot/protsrch.shtml
Many international as well as US trials are listed. You can also do a medline
search or check the abstracts in cancerlit. Medline can be found in many places
including http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/PubMed/
Cancerlit can be found at the cancernet site-http://cancernet.nci.nih.gov/
