help: chemotherapy nerve and muscle side effects/ i.e. numbness

I am looking for any information regarding chemotherapy side effects to the nerves and muscles, in particular numbness. I have an aunt who has recently been diagnosed with stomach cancer and after undergoing a series of chemotherapy treatments has been experiencing numbness of her legs. I wish to know if this is a common side effect and possible treatments for the numbness, in particular. Any additional information regarding this subject would be much appreciated

---------------------

Nerve damage is a common problem seen with cancer (carcinomatous neuropathy) and several chemotherapeutic drugs, particularly vinca alkyloids and the taxanes.

Treatment options are frequently ineffective but worth considering are tricyclic antidepressants, gabapentin (Neurontin) and vit. B6
