breast cancer chemotherapy nausea

Breast cancer chemotherapy nausea I am in my 4th month of CMF chemotherapy and feel a bit queezy from taking the cytoxan pills for 14 days. It is worse this month. Would like to know about someones experience ins using compozine, the doctor gave me but Have not used. Are there other things anyone has found helpful?

---------------------

-Compazine (prochlorperazine) is often used to combat nausea and vomiting associated with chemotherapy treatment. You should speak to your doctor about how you are feeling and ask your doctor about the medication. Compazine may cause sedation, drowsiness, restlessness, anxiety, or constipation depending on when or how often you take the medication.

Take a look at the following website..it has an unbelievable amount of information and even has a Psychosocial Support and Personal Experiences area for you to converse with other patients. http://www.oncolink.com/

-Compazine and similar drugs (such as Tigan) are very useful antiemetics. They are now available as generics (so they aren't too expensive) and can be taken either by mouth or as rectal suppositories.

For patients with more severe nausea (such as from cisplatin) or in whom Compazine doesn't work, I recommend an HT3 blocker such as Anzemet or Zofran.

And for those who prefer herbals, this is one area that is appropriate for herbal teas and for Essiac.
