I would like any information regarding a recently televised news story
on a new form of chemotherapy in which the drug is injected directly into
the tumor along with another drug which the news reporter called a "super
glue". Supposedly the combination of these two "explode" the tumor. A
young lady with advanced liver cancer was featured in this story and the
claim was made that she was in remission.
A friend of mine was just diagnosed with esophageal cancer which we
just found out has spread to his liver. At this point, doctors are talking
about quality of life instead of any aggressive treatment. He is willing
to try anything at this point, money is not necessarily an issue at this
time.

esophageal cancer of that type (>=3) requires surgery with radiation and chemotherapy
afterwards.
I dont know much about liver cancer. But I do know that a large portion of
the liver can be removed without effecting its function and that the liver has some
regenerative ablitities.
in EC surgery requires that there is not cardivascular or intestinal problems
and that the cancer has not spread to the throat or the stomach. two incisions
are made (1) upper chest and (2) lower abdomenal. The cancereous esophagus
is cut from the top and bottom and removed. A non-uclerated section(around 6" to 12")
of the intestines is removed. The intestines is reattached. the sectioned
intestines is attached to the lower part of the esophagus/splinter of the stomach and
the upper part of the esophagus. The advantage of this procedure is that there
is zero cellular rejection and the intestinal wall has similar properties
of the esophagus (i.e. it is a muscular digestive organ that can push food down).
