Lupron(com)=chemotherapy?

I have been told that Lupron is a chemotherapy drug? Can anyone tell me more about it? I have just searshed with google.com but it has nothing.

---------------------

-I saw this subject EXTREMELY hashed out on another board....Lupron is NOT classified as a chemotherapy. It is, though, a hormone therapy used to treat prostate cancer in men. My mom works for a cancer center and for a prostate cancer group, and she works with oncologists on a very close basis. When this subject was raised on another endo board, I talked with the oncologists about it -- it isn't a chemo drug. But some people who are a little misinformed are stating it is.

-According to the Nursing Drug Reference book, Lupron is given as a chemo drug for men with prostate cancer as it is an antineoplastic drug. It takes their testosterone levels down to "castrate" levels it says.

-what I meant that was some (including my insurance) may categorize it as chemotherapy because of the nature of the drug (given usually by injection in the doctor's office). In my case, my prescription coverage is limited to $500 a year so to cover lupron they cover it under another part of my plan that covers chemotherapy, home IV infusion, etc.
