My brother-in-law was given chemotherapy for colon cancer during the pastr year. After the third treatment of 5 days he developed rheumatoid arthritis. His knees and hands were swollen about twice there normal size and the swelling decreases but the joint problems have persisted for more than 9 months, 3 month after chemo was stopped.

-What drugs was your brother-in-law given? I've never seen this complication with 5--FU by itself, or with leukovorim.

Are you sure this was Rheumatoid Arthritis ? I have seen serum sickness
(which can also cause joint swelling) in two patients who were on antiandrogens for prostate cancer.
