BEP Sterility and Chemotherapy

Has anyone had any experiences with sterility following chemotherapy? My treatment, if I decide to choose it over surveillance, will be 2 rounds of BEP (bleomycin, etoposide, and cisplatin). My oncologists have said there could be as much as a 50% chance of sterility. Has anyone heard similar or different?

---------------------

-Sterility is a well-documented side-effect that is possible (not certain) with many chemotharpy agents. Your physician should readily discuss these side effects with you. This particular side effect does not occur with ALL chemo, but it does with many of them.

-I know someone who had 4 rounds of Bleo (at his twenties) and he is sterile ever since, although the doctors are not completely sure whether it was the Chemo or the extremely elevated hormone levels that are associated with his tumor, that caused his sterility.

I heard of somebody who had Bleo in the early stages of the drug development. He is definitely sterile because of it, but them of course the dosage was a lot higher than what is administered today, and he is still alive and well.

As with all chemotherapy, one has to evaluate the risk vs. the benefits. Talk to a fertility specialist about your options...
