It sounds almost too good to be true: a cheap and simple drug that kills
almost all cancers by switching off their "immortality". The drug,
dichloroacetate (DCA), has already been used for years to treat rare
metabolic disorders and so is known to be relatively safe.I expect that, at least at first, it will be an 'added' med, something to
'help' the affects of chemo. I tell you, though, if I were diagnosed with cancer I'd insist on this
stuff first. I've never agreed with the idea that you had to poison the
whole person and hope that the poison killed the cancer before it killed
the person. Which is what chemotherapy is.

-I think you are talking about holistic medicine. In a way I feel
sorry for our doctors who have a hard enough time keeping up with all
the new meds the drug companies put out, and keeping up with nutrition
guides and herbs people take on their own which can sometimes have an
adverse affect when combined with modern medicines and then there all
the new alternative options to treating diseases. Seems like a
regular family doctor almost has to be a superman now. I have a friend in Canada who goes to a Chinese herb doctor before he
goes to a regular doctor. He almost died from prostate cancer too.
Seems there should be a way to combine them, maybe a new medical
specialty, a combination of the two. With people trying alternative
drugs and treatments I do think there should be a new branch of
medicine that would use both in conjunction with each other.
Chemo is a poison, so is cancer. Sometimes the FDA acts too quickly in approving new methods and drugs
and then has to take back (in the case of female hormones) what they
have passed on. If I had cancer I would try to work from both ends, I wouldn't give up
the tried and true that we in Western medicine know though.
